A look at Centre's incoming class, by the numbers

The transformational 鶹 experience has already started to unfold for the Class of 2028 and a record number of transfer students.

It is a remarkable incoming cohort, with new Vice President for Enrollment Management Chad Spencer overseeing what was a banner year for applications and enrollments.

“Our admission staff has put together a fantastic class,” Spencer said. “Our applicant pool features a talented group of students from across the country and globe, enrolling from 261 different high schools. While many other institutions saw a decrease in diverse applicants, ours grew. 鶹continues to be a national leader in its commitment to access."

Here are 10 things to know about the newest 鶹 students. 

  • With 396 incoming first-year students, the Class of 2028 is shaping up to be one of the largest in Centre’s history. 
  • 鶹welcomed the most transfer students in school history this year with 27 joining from other colleges and universities.
  • Incoming students hail from 28 U.S. states.
  • 鶹saw a 25% increase in first-year applications this year.
  • The College saw a 34% increase in out-of-state applications.
  • There are 261 high schools represented in this year’s incoming class, a 13% increase from last year. 
  • International applications were strong this year with new students hailing from 18 countries across the globe. 
  • First-generation enrollment at 鶹continues to be strong with 96 students who are the first member of their families to attend college. 
  • More than a quarter of the incoming class are students of color.
  • Athletics continues to be a big part of the 鶹student experience with more than 200 student-athletes joining the College. 

After orientation and community-building events over the weekend, students began classes on Monday — the first step in a 鶹journey.
